The Calgary Snowboard club is an innovative club, offering training for all abilities and ages. Programs are offered for a wide variety of riders. From being newly introduced to competitive riding and coaching, to seasoned veterans that are focused on world cup and Olympic success, on the route to world domination and professional snowboard careers!
There are three avenues that riders can choose from: Race, Freestyle and Boardercross.
The programs offered are based on a simple principle: “Coach driven, Rider focused”.
At CSC we believe that this team offers more than just the act of snowboarding. Competitive Snowboarding teaches young people skills that are transferable to (and for) the rest of life. Individualism, Social skills, Critical thinking, decision making, confidence, healthy living and a love for the sport and life can all be developed from being involved.
Come join, its worth the effort!
COACHES
All coaching staff are professionally trained and active members through the Canadian Snowboard Coaching program (CSCP) and the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). All CSC coaches recognize the Canadian coaching code of ethics as the foundation for their programs.
VOLUNTEERS
New Volunteer Policy:
For the 2007/08 season we are testing a new approach towards fundraising and volunteering. In the past we collected a volunteer deposit, at the end of the season once the volunteer credit were fulfilled, we would return the deposit. If the credits were not completed, the club would keep all or a portion of the deposit. This season we have removed the volunteer deposit along with the volunteer requirement.
Volunteering is still encouraged but not required. The great news is that any financial compensation we receive for helping at specified events or specified fundraisers will be a credit towards each family that helped at the specific event or fundraiser. We would still like to encourage that each senior team family volunteer at least five days and each junior family volunteer at least three days for the club each season.
Parent co-coordinators will be in touch with you when we know which events we are to provide volunteers for.
We are encouraging you to look for corporate sponsors to help out with the costs of trip and registration. Any money you raise, you will be able to keep, to help fund your snowboard season.
