Program Description

Summary: For riders aged 13 and up with intermediate riding skills
Cost: $1000
Session Times: 15+ training sessions from November to March on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 9:00 pm at Canada Olympic Park (COP).
Program includes 5 mountain riding days (Saturdays or Sundays) at select mountains depending on best conditions and option to attend competitions. Mountains most frequented: Lake Louise, Sunshine, and Nakiska.
The program begins in November with weekly dry-land training sessions where riders will learn how to engage and utilize important muscles for snowboarding, explore the psychological side of sport preparation, and set goals for the season. On-snow training starts as early as the last weekend of November, and goes to as late as the last weekend in March (weather dependent).
The CSC Junior Program is designed to promote fun and progression in all aspects of snowboarding in a team environment. The riders in this program have experience on their snowboards and have the drive to become better all-round riders. They should be comfortable with natural obstacles and capable of airing over small jumps.
The focus of this program is improve overall riding by working basic riding skills (both regular and switch) as well as becoming comfortable with all aspects of the terrain park (half-pipe, jumps, rails) both at COP and occasionally in the mountains. The riders in the program explore the risk and limits of snowboarding in a safe managed environment with a coach (JF has been working in the snowboarding industry for more than 10 years).
The program instills basic ethics of snowboarding, while promoting team bonding and learning. There is no specific specialization into a snowboard discipline; all aspects of snowboarding and snowboard competition will be touched upon. Team riders will be given option to register in local Boardercross, Half-Pipe and Slopestyle events that are suitable to their abilities throughout the season.
Training camps are also organized throughout the season to increase the quantity of training and help promote a team atmosphere. Camps during the season are available at extra cost to cover the expenses of the trip. Past camps have been held Panorama (3-day) and Whistler (5-day). These camps vary in length and location based on Team interest and seasonal variances.
Club members can access further training if desired,working through the CSC coaches on a one-to-one basis (depending on availability) for an additional charge.
Calgary Snowboard Club coaching staff and coach trainers are among the most experienced and supported on the continent. Optional costs include event registration fees and ASA membership.

- Helmet (use of helmet is a mandatory for this program).
